Help Keep Our Neighbors Warm: Hand Warmer and Food Drive in Fraser

Michigan winters are hard on anyone sleeping outside. This season Your Corner Store is collecting hand warmers and food, packing them into boxes, and handing those boxes out to people experiencing homelessness in our area.

How it works

You drop off hand warmers or food at the counter. We pack everything into boxes, each with warmers to get through a cold night and food to eat right away, and our team passes them out to people who need them.

What to bring

Hand warmers are the most useful thing you can give. The disposable air-activated packets stay warm for hours, fit in a pocket, and need nothing but a shake. Toe warmers and body warmers help too.

For food, pick things a person can open and eat on the spot, with no can opener, stove or fridge:

• Granola bars, protein bars and trail mix
• Peanut butter crackers and single-serve peanut butter
• Beef jerky and meat sticks
• Pull-tab cans of soup, tuna or chicken
• Fruit cups and applesauce pouches
• Bottled water

Sealed, in-date, shelf-stable food is what we can pack and hand out safely, so please skip homemade food and anything that needs to stay cold.

Where to drop off

Bring donations to Your Corner Store, 31000 Groesbeck Hwy in Fraser, just south of 13 Mile. We are open Monday through Saturday, 10 AM to 8 PM, and closed Sundays. Leave them at the counter and tell whoever is working that they are for the warm boxes. Current hours are always on our contact page.

Bringing a lot?

If you want to drop off a big batch, or your group or business wants to pitch in, call or text us at (586) 362-8099 and we will plan it with you.

Every pack of hand warmers and every granola bar ends up in someone's hands on a cold night. Thank you for helping us look out for our neighbors.
